What is your earliest memory?

In the first interview, the subject said her earliest memory was of a Jewish woman tearfully saying good bye to her. She realized this was her mother when she was looking into taking her vows and researched her past.^[2]

In the second interview, the subject said that for years, she was told this memory was actually a dream she had about the Virgin Mary.

How did you feel about your mother?

In the first interview, the subject said her adoptive mother was very protective and strict. The subject’s adoptive mother always feared the subject would be kidnapped or raped, and warned her about this. The subject’s adoptive mother was especially worried Jewish men would kidnap and rape the subject. The subject’s adoptive mother died of malnutrition during World War II.

In the second interview, the subject said she resented her adoptive mother for kidnapping her from her real mother. By the time the subject found out she was born Jewish, her birth mother had committed suicide and her birth father had died of grief.

How did you feel about your father?

In the first interview, the subject said her adoptive father was a cold and distant man who often seemed resentful of her presence. The subject remembers him mostly with a newspaper at the breakfast table. The subject’s father died when the Nazis executed him, in retaliation for an attack on a Nazi officer.

In the second interview, the subject said she does not blame her adoptive father for not caring about her, since it was her adoptive mother and her adoptive aunt (the maid of her birth mother) who decided she would be adopted.

When did you realize you were a little girl?

In the first interview, the subject said she told her mother she wanted to be a priest. When the subject’s adoptive mother told her that girls had to be nuns, the subject decided she would be a nun when she grew up.

In the second interview, the subject said she overheard her adoptive mother and adoptive aunt say it was a good thing she was a girl, since girls are nicer and sweeter than boys. The subject decided she would rather be a boy.

What did you think of boys growing up?

In the first interview, the subject said her adoptive mother made her terrified of boys. The subject was educated in a convent, and never interacted with boys or men outside her family. The subject was not even allowed to talk to male shop clerks or vendors. This upbringing gave the subject a case of androphobia. When the subject befriended one of her Jewish cousins, that was the first time she socialized with a boy outside her adoptive family.

In the second interview, the subject added that she liked to crossdress and go to gambling dens because she felt she was conquering her fear of men.

What is your earliest sexual memory?

In the first interview, the subject said her first sexual thoughts were a matter for her priest.

In the second interview, the subject said her first sexual thought was when she saw an older male (adoptive) cousin in his new suit and she thought he looked very handsome.

How did you learn about sex?

In the first interview, the subject said she was taught about sexual purity from the nuns and from her adoptive mother. The subject further learned about sex when she was trained as a nurse.

In the second interview, the subject said she was horrified to learn about sex and pregnancy. The subject wanted to be a nun, in part, so she would never have to go through those things.

When did you first learn about homosexuality?

In the first interview, the subject said she was taught about homosexuality when she trained to be a nun. The subject said she would not reveal the secrets of the church.

In the second interview, the subject said Catholic clergy are allowed to participate in homosexuality, as long as it resembles reproductive intercourse and as long as it was only with other Catholic members of the cloth. Priests are allowed to sleep with monks and nuns, but monks and nuns are not allowed to sleep with each other.

What were your sexual fantasies as a teen-ager?

In the first interview, the subject said she would not reveal what she told her priest under the sanctity of confession.

In the second interview, the subject said she had no sexual fantasies until she befriended her Jewish cousin. The subject’s Jewish cousin confessed to her that he was a homosexual who would prefer to be being a woman. After that, the subject had fantasies of marrying her cousin, but she would be the groom and he would be the beautiful bride. The cousin died in a concentration camp during the war.

How did you lose your virginity?

In the first interview, the subject said on her wedding night, her husband looked at her in her underwear and could not go through with touching her, since he said she still felt like a nun to her. On the second night, he got drunk and consummated the marriage, though he was half-flaccid.

In the second interview, the subject said a fellow nun was possessed by the spirit of the archangel Gabriel and demanded they have sex with a strap on, but the subject convinced her to do anal sex instead of vaginal.

What do you think about when you touch yourself?

In the first interview, the subject said though she could forgive Nazism, as was her Christian duty; and since she needed medical help in curing her compulsion, the subject could not trust a Lutheran. The subject said she would not trust a lay Catholic with this information either.

In the second interview, the subject said she fantasized about going to a gambling den in men’s attire and being discovered to have a vagina, where upon all the rough men would have sex with her.

How do you feel about your parents now?

In the first interview, the subject said she prays for the souls of her adoptive parents, and also for her birth parents; even though her birth parents are in Hell and not Purgatory.

In the second interview, the subject said she is grateful that her adoptive father was unlucky enough to be randomly chosen randomly by the Nazis to be executed, and she is glad to be an orphan.

Do you feel you married the right person?

In the first interview, the subject said she married her husband in order to leave Italy, since after the War it was no home to her at all. The subject believes that her husband knows this.

In the second interview, the subject said she still wishes she would have married her Jewish cousin.

Do you ever wish you were the husband?

In the first interview, the subject said that God created her to be a wife and a mother. The subject would not go against God’s plans.

In the second interview, the subject said she wished God’s plan for her was that she would be a man.
