[Excerpt from Mr. Nine’s letter to the magazine Cuckold Confessionals.]

Dear Cuckold Confessionals,

I never thought I would write to this periodical. Actually, I am not surprised that I am writing to this periodical. My mother believed I would one day.

I am a Greek man from a village in Anatolia. You call it Turkey. My mother said it was not safe in Anatolia. I took her to the United States. I was 17 years old. The Asia Minor Catastrophe started and our family died.[1] We were going to take a train to Detroit. She said it was not safe. We stayed in Washington DC. I wanted to take a wife. She said my wife would cheat on me. I did not take a wife. I listened to her.

I started a restaurant that served Greek food. I decided to serve Negro customers instead of White customers. In the South, you can either serve Negroes or White people, not both of them. There are many Negroes in Washington DC, and they like to eat good food. Negroes are strange, but they are not dirty like the White Americans said. They are very loud, like the Greeks, but not like the White people.

Usually, I hired Negro women to be my waitresses. I hired Greek women to cook the food. Then a White woman came in to be my waitress. She was from West Virginia, where the White people are called “hillbilly.” She was very pretty. I told her I do not hire White girls to be my waitress. She cried. Her hazel eyes were very pretty. She said she had to leave her hometown, since her father was an evil man who did evil things to her. She went to live with her aunt and uncle, but they wanted her to “pull her own weight.” I told her she could get a job in any White restaurant. She said she wanted a job in my restaurant, since it was the best restaurant that served Negroes. My mother did not want me to hire her. I did not listen to my mother. I hired her.

The hillbilly was not a good waitress. She was clumsy. She forgot things. But the customers loved her. Well, the male customers loved her. The Negro women did not like her, since she would “make love” to the male customers. They wanted me to fire her. My mother wanted me to fire her. Then the hillbilly girl came to me with tears in her eyes. She said her aunt was going to throw her out. Her aunt thought she was sleeping with her uncle, who is a Negro, but she was not.[2] Still, she would lose her home again. It was the wartime, so there was no housing available. I said she could live with me. She said people would say evil things about us. I said they would not say evil things if we were married. She agreed to marry me.

My mother did not like that we married quick. She did not trust the hillbilly girl. I told her I am the man of the family. I make the decisions. I had decided to marry the hillbilly girl. If she disagreed, she could move out. My mother gave in, but said the hillbilly girl will sleep with a Negro.

Hillbilly girl and I had a happy life. We had two children. Neither of the children were black. She was a good cook and a loving mother. The sex was good. I believed she was innocent. Then she got the “The Seven Year Itch.” She acted strange. My mother hired a private detective. The private detective made photographs of hillbilly girl and a Negro elevator operator doing sex. My mother threw the envelope with the photographs at me. I went to my bedroom to look at them.

I had a strange feeling looking at the photographs. My wife looked very pretty in the photographs. The Negro elevator operator was young. He was eighteen years old and lived with his mother. The couple went to his cousin’s apartment to do sex. The Negro elevator operator had a large penis. I have a large penis too. I am strong in the penis. I felt strong in the penis then. Yet I believed I was a man, not a cuckold. I do not let another man do sex with my wife.

I stood up to my hillbilly wife. I was angry enough to beat her to death. My wife cried again. She said she was so sorry. She wanted to be a good wife. I wanted her to be my wife forever. I forgave her. I decided we should move to suburbia. There are not Negroes in suburbia.

We moved to suburbia. Our neighbors were White. There were many men who are more attractive than me. Our Australian neighbor is very handsome. He is part Greek, but he does not look like me. Another neighbor is from Boston. He is a professor and he used to play American football. His female students love him. My wife was not interested in those men. She preferred the wife of the barber neighbor. The wife of the barber neighbor had skin like fava and was tall, but not that tall.

We got a maid that was not a Negro. The maid said we had to have a radio in our basement and a shrine to the Ocean goddess. This is not a story about Puerto Rican nationalism.

Life was peaceful. Still, I thought about my hillbilly wife and the Negro elevator operator. I thought about them doing sex. I did not get angry. I had a sexual feeling. I would take my large penis in hand and think of his large penis. I imagined them in scenes they were not in.

Life changed. My doctor neighbor said he was doing a self-improvement seminar with all the neighborhood wives. My hillbilly wife would be away from me for a month. I did not fear she would make me a cuckold. The doctor was a White man and an honorable man. I did not suspect the fava wife would make me a cuckold.

When my hillbilly wife came home, she told me her clown neighbor kept playing “It’s a Long Way to Tipperary” on the piano in the dining hall and the doctor sang along, and other such stories. She did not talk much about her own experience. Her leg hair was darker. I felt like she was hiding something from me.

Then, things got very strange.
