[Louis Four’s letter to Sunada Tatsuya, known to Joan Four as Kumana Mitsukuni, also known by the nom de guerre, Hachibei.]
Dear Hachibei,[1]
This correspondence is being written to thank you for the time we spent together this summer and to update you on the events in our household. Please destroy it when you have finished reading.
I had a satisfactory time with you this summer. You are a good conversationalist. I did not know that information about the difference between Pacific salmon and Atlantic salmon. Our carnal relations were satisfactory as well. I enjoyed having your large penis in my rectum. I do not enjoy having carnal relations with my spouse. I have not had carnal relationships with your cousin.[2] I know she is not here for that.
My spouse has come back from Dr. Johan Engelbert’s self-improvement seminar. She told me she taught Mr. [Eight]’s spouse some kendo, and the woman in question was satisfactory in the exercise. Dr. Engelbert joined her in meditating by the lake. She enjoyed herself. However, the information I have received makes me suspicious of what actually happened at this camp.
After you had left for Japan, I did research on Dr. Johan Engelbert, like you suggested. I discovered that he is connected with that new Central Intelligence Agency. He goes to folk dance recitals with Sidney Gottlieb, and I have discovered this man is the head of the Chemical Research Department. There is a high probability the vitamins that Dr. Engelbert gave my spouse and my neighbor’s spouses were an experimental drug. I do not know what drug it is. I have noticed no difference in her, except she is sweating more. I will have to monitor this case more closely.
As we discussed, I have been considering eliminating my spouse. Her connection with the Missourian is less politically beneficial now that he is out of office. I would like a spouse with better connections. Divorce would cause scandal, but I would not rule it out, if it were not for the fact I would like to keep my current spouse quiet, vis-à-vis the leaking of the intelligence from my office. Though you did bring up pressuring her into suicide, I have considered it and that is a stupid way to kill someone. There is too much investigation into suicide. My neighbor, Mr. [Two] has discovered that.
Possibly, my spouse being trafficked into a CIA experiment will prove to be beneficial to us. If the CIA is going to be investigating my family, I will investigate the CIA. They will rue the day they went against Army Intelligence. The CIA has possibly been infiltrated by the Soviets. I have my suspicions that Mr. [Eleven] is a Soviet spy.
I might need you to return some time soon to help me sort this out. My spouse is still in love with you and would be easy to seduce again. She believes you did not want to honey trap her. She thinks you are innocent of all crimes. However, I do not think we can get her to believe that patriotic groups like yours are necessary to stop all of Asia from going Red. If the law bans something, she believes it should be illegal, and cannot be persuaded otherwise.
In conclusion, thank you for reading this. I wish you were my spouse, though that would not be respectable. Again, I am not having carnal relations with your cousin. I will monitor Dr. Engelbert, my spouse, and my neighbors, and report back to you.
Love most tenderly,
Louis
