Seven’s Diary, titled “Notes for Confession”. He did not give any dates to the entries, but this entry was likely completed on February 12, 1953:

  • Doubt in the Savior’s ability to save me from the temptation to gamble
  • Doubt in the Virgin’s ability to save me from the temptation to gamble
  • Doubt in St. St. Camillus De Lellis to save me from the temptation to gamble
  • Doubt in Al’s ability to save me from the temptation to gamble [1]
  • Temptation to gamble
  • Frustration with Tony and Virginia fighting [2]
  • Joy I found another Catholic named Peggy Three turned to shameful joy she is an alcoholic
  • Resentment that Peggy knows the circumstance of my birth
  • Suspicions about Catholicism of Betty One
  • Too nosy about Roxy’s vice (does she have a vice?)
  • Shameful joy about Roxy’s possible vice
  • Boston Celtics to play Milwaukee Hawks tomorrow, expected to be a close competition but how close will it be? [3]
  • Keep turning on the television to sports talk
  • Keep turning on the radio to sports talk
  • Keep turning the newspaper to the sports page
  • Envy that alcohol vice would be easier to manage
  • Again proud that most gamblers are men
  • Fear again that I am deceiving everyone, but about what?
